Best Places in Gilgit for a vacational trip

Naltar Valley:

One of the famous places of Pakistan, for having the wonders of natural beauty is the Naltar Valley.  A valley that is located on the outskirts of Gilgit at a distance of 34 km from Karakoram Highway, Gilgit. The venture of going to Naltar Valley is also full of thrill and enjoyment as to a certain point the car is no longer reachable and jeeps are arranged to take the passengers up to the mesmeric Naltar Valley. Where once reached, makes the visitors be in awe of its enthralling forest, majestically shaped mountains, and entrancing running water. Despite many natural astonishments, Naltar Valley is mostly renowned for being home to three lakes- collectively known as the ‘Bashkiri Lakes’. This exotic valley is always a recreational place to visit any time of the year. As the summer and spring offer lush green forests and gardens, crystal blue running water, and pleasant sunny-windy weather. In winter and Autumn, there are scenic snow-peaked mountains, and alluring frozen water and it becomes an enjoyable skiing spot, giving away every possible reason to visit Naltar Valley.

Hunza

A place full of exquisite nature, one that is claimed to be heaven on Earth is none other than Hunza. Hunza, at an elevation of 2,438 m, lies in Northern Gilgit Baltistan and is bordering China in the North-East. It holds a Buddhist historical significance and has many preserved archeological sites, which also contribute to making it a touristic place. There is a 100% literacy rate and the people of Hunza are very much concerned about the beauty this region acquires and make the effort to not be negligent towards preserving it. Hunza valley has beautiful meadows laden with exquisite flowers showing off several colors, a mesmeric crystal blue covering of the sky, and mountains inhabited by lush green, orange, and brown-leafed trees. On a trip to Hunza, one feels enchanted by the beautiful surroundings he experiences and feels secluded from all the worries of life. Hunza has a vibrant landscape that is divided into three regions Upper Hunza, Central Hunza, and Lower Hunza. This land is also home to an ancient Baltit castle, ancient watchtowers, and the great Altit Fort.

Nagar

Gilgit has many touristic places, topping most of them is Nagar.  Nagar is an entrancing place lying in the vicinity of enticing peaked mountains. It is situated at a height of 2,438 m and is reached when traveled on Karakoram Highway in the direction of  North from the city of Gilgit. Different villages underlie Nagar and two different languages-Burushashki and Shina are spoken in this region. Many famous high mountain peaks of Rakaposhi, Diran, The Golden, and Rush Peak are situated in Nagar, which adds up to its beauty and reasons for visiting it. The region of Nagar has been the victim of the Anglo-Brusho War, two centuries ago, which was fought between the people of Nagar and British troops. Nagar has a dynamic landscape, as it is enveloped by several beguiling glaciers, amusing meadows, pastures, and enthralling lakes of Kachali and Rush. All of the spectacular nature confined in Nagar makes it a place worth visiting,

Attabad:

At a drive of half an hour from Hunza, Gilgit Baltistan, lies the beguiling Attabad Lake. Which is renowned because of the beauty it acquires. It won’t be wrong to state that this lake is not similar to other natural lakes, as a catastrophe led to the creation of Attabad Lake. Attabad was once a place until a massive landslide deteriorated the Hunza valley and river, and caused a rapid rise in water level forming Attabad Lake. It has a depth of 300 m and is 13 miles long dazzling turquoise lake flowing between the mesmeric mountains. Throughout the year, this lake never ceases to amaze tourists by showcasing the reflecting crystal turquoise water in summer and having a smooth frozen surfaced lake in winter. Attabad Lake is a recreational place all year long, making the tourists experience different activities like jet-skiing, boating, fishing, ice-skiing, and sledding, and giving them many fun memories to always cherish.

Khunjerab:

Khunjerab Pass is a mountain pass that is not only eminent in Pakistan but is also labeled as the highest border-crossing pass in the world. This pass is elevated at a height of 4,693 m in the Karakorum mountain ranges and is situated on the Northern border of Pakistan and the South-West border of China. The beauty of this pass lies in its location and the mesmeric sightseeing due to the altitude it attains. The word ‘Khunjerab’ has been derived from two Wakhi language words ‘Khun’ and ‘Jerab’, meaning blood and a creek originating from a spring, respectively. This Khunjerab pass also leads to a Khunjerab National Park, which is home to many exquisite animals and endangered species like snow leopards. After being constructed in 1982, the Khunjerab pass has superseded many other unpaved passes. This highest metaled border crossing in the world has resulted to be the traveling route of the majority population.
